Booda Bellie ~ Reversible Receiving Blanket

August 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

When I opened up my Booda Bellie blanket my three year old automatically claimed it as her own.  Fair enough… it was not actually for me, but somehow I figured that my youngest would get the most use out of it.  I was clearly wrong.

She immediately took it with her into the car (as we were on our way out) and demanded that she be tucked in to her car seat.  The square-shaped, reversible receiving blanket makes so much more sense than the usual rectangular shaped ones, and it fit her large-for-her-age frame quite well.

I have to admit that I was not blown away at first.  I mean it is a blanket, a nice looking one at that (hubby prefers it’s simple design to the usual pink flowery ones I buy – go figure), but I really didn’t see what was so special even though it washed up well and got softer over time.  And then I realized that the reason I couldn’t see what was so special was because it wasn’t about looks at all.  Booda Bellie blankets (and all of their products) are about so much more than that.

Their blankets are made completely in Canada from certified organic cotton and bamboo.  This combination of materials makes for an eco-friendly, wrinkle resistant, and naturally hypoallergenic product.  Booda Bellie blankets are good for your baby, the environment, and your conscience!  In buying from Booda Bellie you can support Canada’s economy and help save the world!  Ok, I may be getting a bit carried away here but I really was surprised at just how eco-friendly these blankets are and how making smart purchases really can make a difference.  When you add all that to a nice, soft, and durable blanket, you understand why Booda Bellie has recently earned the PTPA (Parent Tested, Parent Approved) stamp of approval.

So whether you are looking to save the environment, or simply your baby’s sensitive skin, I highly recommend you check out Booda Bellie blankets.  Products with a conscience and three year old appeal… sounds like a good combination to me.

Generation Baby ~ Cart Cover

August 8, 2008 · 1 Comment

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a bit of a germaphobe.  Anyone who knows me also knows that I like to shop.  The one thorn in my shopping side is the dreaded shopping cart.    Yuck.  Before placing my squeaky clean babies anywhere near one, I must completely clean off the handle, seat, and basket with some sort of anti-bacterial product and then spend the rest of my trip yelling at my kids not to touch anything!  Needless to say, I was more than happy to hear about Generation Baby’s cart cover… made right here in London, Ontario.

The cart cover comes neatly folded in a pouch that acts as a front pocket once opened.  Very handy and guess what?  I can actually manage to get it back in, all neat and tidy, without an engineering degree!  The padded fabric is cute, yet subdued enough that my husband has no problem using it (although they have many trendy prints to choose from).   There are two Velcro loops on the inside to hold small toys (or a soother) and a snug fitting seat belt to boot.  It fits nicely over every shopping cart that I have encountered (trust me, that’s a lot) and it also doubles as a high chair cover when dining out.  Two germ barriers for the price of one???  I’m in shopping heaven!

In order to clean the cart cover (and get rid of those pesky germs), just hand wash and lay flat to dry.  I must admit that I was lazy and didn’t read the instructions beforehand so I ended up just throwing mine in the washer and dryer.  It fared very well… a tad faded but still in perfect condition and, well, clean.  Fading aside, I will probably continue to wash mine this way.  It’s just sooooo easy!

Generation Baby’s Cart Cover is cute.  It’s practical, versatile, and germ inhibiting.  I don’t know what else to say except… get shopping!  Their new product line is being launched August 1/08.  Get in line behind me!
